OUR PROFESSIONAL YOUTH AND COMMUNITY SERVICE IS UNIQUE.

At Sanctus, we blend non-contact boxing with practical and therapeutic support through individual mentoring and group programmes to influence beliefs, attitudes and behaviours resulting in long lasting positive change.

We offer interventions designed to empower young people aged 8 to 25 with the skills and inspiration needed to make positive changes in their lives.

Our programmes engage young people through boxing training and supports their SEMH by delivering psychology-informed mentoring tailored to meet the individual needs of the young person.

Develops Personal Principles

Throughout our programmes, young people learn evidence-based personal development principles including how the brain works, to allow them to understand feelings they may be experiencing. This equips them with the skills to manage emotions, behaviours, and situations.

Builds Emotional Competence

Our sessions are designed to develop emotional competence through focusing on developing self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness (empathy) , relationship management and responsible decision making.

Supports Mental Health

Created in partnership with mental health charity MIND, and co-designed with young people, the programmes use boxing and mentoring as a way to improve young people’s participation in physical activity, their self-confidence, self-belief, and mental wellbeing.

Our Impact

Since September 2023, 710 young people have accessed our programmes. We have worked with 14 schools across Calderdale & Bradford who have used Box Champions to support vulnerable young people manage their SEMH.

School leaders and SENDcos have commented that the programme helped improve:

attendance, attitudes to learning, self-regulation, improve mood and engagement, improve relationships with others, those who were at risk of becoming NEET, had positively engaged in our alternative provision.

“Since she went in to care, she’s found it hard to trust adults. She will push everyone’s buttons to see how far they will go in an act of self-sabotage. But she trusts you, she knows you will be there every week and whilst she might not show it, the sessions with you are the highlight of her week."
